PSG-STEP is the Nodal Institution for the "Lemelson-Recognition & Mentoring Programme (L-RAMP) for Innovators"

The Lemelson-Recognition and Mentoring Programme (L-RAMP) for Innovators, a joint initiative by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and Rural Innovations Network (RIN, Chennai), with financial support from the Lemelson Foundation , USA).

The objectives of this programme are to

(1) Identify and nurture grassroots innovators and innovations that would help people in fulfilling their basic needs in an effective manner and thereby

(2) Enhance people’s capacity in improving and sustaining their living conditions.

More specifically, L-RAMP for Innovators, together with its partners, aims to provide technical and business mentoring and financial support to potential innovators and entrepreneurs, through the following stages:

1. Conceptualize ideas that address basic human needs and social development, 
2. Translate such concepts into technical designs, 
3. Develop and build prototypes, 
4. Test such prototypes, and 
5. Prepare business plans and establish viable enterprises producing such innovative products.
